Atlanta Dog Trainer Boarding and Training Programs

We offer two types of dog boarding training programs both located on acres of spectacular scenic farmland. Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort LLC provides boarding, dog kennel, and training programs [perfect for dogs with crate issues] plus our specialty dog board and train program in the trainer’s home and at our farm at our Alpharetta/Milton location. We recently expanded and opened an Atlanta pet resort for all boarding services and as an additional training location for all training services.

Our Board and Training Programs in a Home Environment

12900 Freemanville Rd Alpharetta, GA 30004

Training includes four training sessions seven days a week [most places do 2 session and only train 5 days a week], boarding fees, doggie daycare and coming to the group classes $495 a week with a two week minimum for basic dog on leash obedience training.

The Board and Train Dog Training School service in a trainer’s home is for spoiled dogs. Dogs that live mainly inside and have been treated more like a child than a dog. It is also for dogs not suited to pet boarding kennel training, dogs that might have anxiety, or have undue stress in a dog boarding kennel environment.

Our Dog Training program in our home is suggested for dogs that have had a hard time house breaking and need to maintain their training by using the crate techniques used in our dog training school program. The training in the trainer’s home is where we work on helping dogs to be calm and obedient in many areas such as, but not limited to; kitchens, dens, bedrooms and areas where multiple guests visit. Dogs will go to our doggie daycare during the day for periods of time when they are not in training to socialize and play with other friendly dogs. They go on several nature walks a day and spend time inside with us so they can learn house manners such as not taking food off the counters. They become a part of our pack and learn to act accordingly.

Board and Train Dog Training School in the Trainer’s Home

Our board and train trainer lives on the property of Atlanta Dog Trainer in a sweet farm house located in Alpharetta. The dog will be kept in the trainer’s home and become a part of their existing family. Since the dog is in a home environment, we can work on basic in-house manners such as counter surfing, obedience training, behavior modification and building a foundation for house breaking. A plus for the dogs in our dog training school is daily walks, playtime in the trainers secured fenced yard, and specialized attention in the trainer’s home with the trainer. It will be a home away from home for your dog. As part of the dog behavior training school, they will also get to visit our doggie daycare and socialize with other dogs.

In the trainer’s home dog training school will include the minimum of 4 training sessions each day, including weekends, coming to our group obedience classes for distraction training, long walks to work on no pull and heel and training in front of our doggie daycare for further obedience proofing. There is a 2-week minimum on the Board and Train basic obedience programs.

A complimentary consultation to evaluate which service would suit your dog best is included in the cost of the training programs. Additionally, when you come to pick-up your dog from our dog training school a “Go Home” lesson is included in the price of service. The lesson will go over what commands the dogs have learned and how to reinforce the behavior once your dog is back in their environment. After the dog goes home and you have had a week to work on transferring the leadership to you and generalize the dog to other environments, we will give you a complimentary lesson to go over any dog behavior training issues.

Dog Training School Basic Obedience Curriculum

Dog Boarding Kennel - Training Programs

5660 Howard Rd Cumming, GA 30040

Training includes four training sessions seven days a week [most places do 2 session and only train 5 days a week], boarding fees, doggie daycare and coming to the group classes for the two week training for basic dog on leash obedience training.

Our pet resort program is excellent for dogs that do not crate well and prefer large spaces and not the confinement of sleeping in a crate.  Standard courses for basic and intermediate training have a two week minimum but we do have other options for specific behavior modifications per the next section below.

Our dog resort kennel training programs are designed to get the most out of your dog’s potential with our positive and effective training methods. We train through consistency, trust, communication, repetition, timing and respect. Our trainers have all worked with all types of hard to define behaviors with success through positive and effective management training tools. Our experience is, but not limited to, working with; hard to manage dogs, all types and forms of aggression, resource guarding, shelter dogs without social manners, dogs that have not had the proper imprinting as puppies, dogs that have survived trauma, dogs with fear-based issues and need confidence building, bullies and many other hard to define and effectively managed behaviors.

Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort LLC is proud of our very experienced certified trainers and dog behavioral specialists. Our owner and head trainer Susie Aga, CPDT-KA, will supervise all the dog guests coming to our dog resort for training. Our pet resort dog boarding kennel training is located on a 4 acre farm in Cumming. The spacious dog runs and kennels are heated and cooled for your dog’s comfort. The large indoor/outdoor dog runs are 4 feet by 15 feet long. There are 6 secure fenced-in play yards where your dog will get the proper exercises and stimulation. Our trainers are very knowledgeable on all breed characteristics and they will make sure all the dogs get the mental and physical stimulation that comes along with work dogs and dog mixes of these breeds. In our pet resort  training program, your dog will get lots of human contact besides alone time to "hang out" with us in our daily routines at Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort. Your dog will become a part of our pack and be pampered pups while guests in our dog resort boarding kennel program.

Additionally, a complimentary evaluation is included in the dog boarding kennel training services. Also when you come to pick-up your dog, a “Go Home” lesson is included in the price of service. The lesson will go over what commands the dog has learned and how to reinforce the behavior once your dog is back in their environment. If needed, a follow-up lesson is available within 30 days after the end of the dog boarding kennel training school [2 weeks or more minimum programs] for any dog behavior training issues you might be having at a later date. Behavior modification is priced on the lessons and time needed to correct specific behaviors. A two-week minimum is required for basic in-kennel/boarding obedience school programs. The training is 7 days a week with the minimum of 4 sessions every day of training.   All boarding fees, play times (3-4 minimum) and food is included in this price. You are welcome to bring your own food if you like as it does not affect the price either way.  Remember most dog boarding kennel training services do not include play times or a 7-day a week training program much less the level of care we take with each of our dog guests..

All training is not guaranteed and progress depends on the temperament of the dog. Some dogs may learn slower than others and we will work at their speed without any unnecessary pressure put on the dog. Training will also have to be maintained consistently at home for your dog to retain everything learned in Board and Train programs. You will have to generalize the behaviors to other environments once the dog is home. You will also have to follow our house breaking rules 101 to transfer over the house breaking foundation to your home.

Training Services for the Busy Dog Owner at our Atlanta Dog Trainer Pet Resort:

Over the past number of months, our clients have consistently asked if there was a way for us to do some specific “add-on, refresher or touch up” training for their pet. Of course we all know that we only get very well behaved dogs here at the Pet Resort (wink, wink) but we also know that occasionally our dogs regress a bit and tend to conveniently forget certain commands, especially if we are too busy with life’s demands to reinforce what they may have learned in the past.  Plus we all have dogs that we wish would have just a couple-three more obedience skills, right?  Like not jumping up on every guest that comes to the front door?!   Well, we believe we have a way to address your requests.

We are offering a few a la carte training options that allow you to see your dog every evening or we can train your dog over a one week rather than a two week boarding period. We realize we all miss our pets and want to be near them as much as possible so we have worked up a few shorter term economical training options. However, for puppies or dogs that need training from the ground up, we will need more training time so our 2 week board and train course or other training options would be more appropriate. It also should be noted that these new programs still require you, as the pet’s owner, to do some homework to reinforce what your dog has learned with us. Our “Go Home” meeting with you will cover what you need to do to maximize your pet’s training results.

All training will be at our Pet Resort on Howard Road in Cumming just north of Alpharetta.  Rick Carpenter, our Canine Behavior and Training Specialist, is our resident Pet Resort trainer.  He has been with us for a number of years and has a soft spot for working with the frequently misunderstood “Bully Breeds” so you know he has lots of patience and a big heart.  Some of you may know Rick as one half of the Rick and Trish husband and wife training team with Atlanta Dog Trainer.  The Carpenters work closely with local rescue organizations and have fostered over 100 (yes 100!) dogs over the last few years at their home.  Rick’s bio: http://www.atlantadogtrainer.com/dogtrainers.php

Here is what we have put together:

  1. Private Lesson to focus on a particular behavioral modification: 1 hour - $65, $185 for 3 lessons

  3. 7 Day Board and Train -  Regularly $595, Introductory Price: $495
  4. 14 Day Board and Train: $990

For the 5 day Day School and the 7 Day Board and Train programs, pick 2 Behavioral Modification Commands from the following list, however, good behavior manners will be enforced during all training. Also, if your dog has already learned some of these commands, our trainer will consult with you as to what additional behaviors can be added.

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Loose Leash Walking with a Sit when stopped
  • Off: no jumping on people
  • Place: as in “Go to your place”
  • Drop It
  • Leave It: as in leave it alone
  • Wait: in car, in doorway, in motion for example
  • Heel: beside you
  • Come/Recall with distractions

  • Bite Inhibition

Other options exist for more advanced dogs such as Place commands given from a distance. We can also put together a customized “Dog Tricks” training program. All training will be a minimum of a 45 minute to 1 hour session per day that includes a “Go Home” transition review on the day of pick up. This lesson will go over what commands the dog has learned and how to reinforce the behavior once your dog is back in their environment.

All boarding fees, play times, and food is included in this price. Your dog will be served two meals a day in the morning and evening as guest of our pet resort. You are welcome to bring your own food, if you like as it does not affect the price either way. Remember, most dog boarding kennel training services do not include play times or a 7-day a week training program or the level of care we take with each of our dog guests.
