Rick Carpenter
Looks like Tarzan but acts like Jane
Rick Carpenter has been with Atlanta Dog Trainer for over 15 years.
Over the past 15 years, Rick and his wife have passionately fostered over 130 dogs, working closely with two rescue groups that focus on Pit Bulls and Labrador Retrievers. Their efforts have concentrated on rehabilitating the often-misunderstood Pit Bull and addressing the challenges faced by the overbred Labrador population.
Driven by a deep commitment to these dogs, Rick transitioned from fostering to a full-time role in dog training. His extensive experience spans nearly every breed, totaling around 700 dogs. Rick emphasizes that the real challenge often lies not just with the dogs but in fostering a healthy, ongoing relationship between the owners and their pets. Effective communication and education about canine behavior are crucial to his approach.
Rick’s primary expertise is in the Board and Train program, but he also leads the Dock Diving classes at our on-site pool. Under his guidance, three dogs have competed and won in their classifications at national competitions over the last three years. Additionally, Rick’s work extends to training therapy dogs for special needs individuals and veterans returning home. He also conducts in-home lessons, private sessions at our facility, and group classes, always stressing clear communication to ensure the success of all training endeavors.
At the close of each day, Rick’s goal is to reflect on the meaningful impact he and the Atlanta Dog Trainer team have made, striving to enhance the lives of both dogs and their owners.
